February Reflections: Walking Peace Home
Lately, I’ve been thinking about the monks walking for peace. There’s something so stunning about their journey—not just the distance they travel, but how their walk inspires others to meet them along the way and walk their own walks. That ripple effect feels like quiet magic.
I’m deeply inspired by their commitment. Bare feet. Long roads. Discomfort embraced rather than avoided. I find myself wondering how they get the strength to move through that kind of discomfort—feeling a quiet kinship as someone who often meets the day barefoot.
“Where does that committed, resilient peace live in me?”
To me, the monks feel like an invitation. A gentle nudge to turn inward and ask: “Where does peace live inside of me?”
So often, I notice how easy it is for us to want to fight a good fight—whatever that may be—sometimes before we’ve even finished listening to the conversation. And I’m not ignoring what’s happening in the world right now. Yet when I look through the lens of family systems, relationships, and even wars, it seems things often begin with a conversation… a belief… a difference of opinion. From there, diversity can either become a bridge—or a battleground.
That brings me back to my own question: Where does that committed, resilient peace live in me?
My work—my practice—is about staying grounded. About aligning with my own energy and staying in integrity with my truth, rather than unconsciously adopting someone else’s. I often must pause and ask myself: “Do I really believe this—or did I pick it up somewhere along the way, like a habit, a headline, or something someone said confidently enough?”
The magical mystic in me smiles and says: Stay curious. She’s the part of me holding a crystal in one hand and a cappuccino in the other, trusting that peace can be passed along—one person at a time. And that each person will pass along their own version of peace in their own way.
And I wonder… if each of us took responsibility for that inner ease—just that—what might the world look like then? Maybe quieter in some places, warmer in others, and a little more breathable for all of us.
With Valentine’s Day approaching, let’s enjoy peace and love rippling through our energy fields—soft, steady, and shared generously.
With love,
Bobbie & Molly & a Cappuccino
