What Are You Still Carrying That You Don't Need Anymore?
Releasing Patterns of Belief That No Longer Serve
You know that sentence you've said about yourself so many times it doesn't even feel like a sentence anymore, it just feels like a fact?
"I always get sick around big changes." "Relaxing isn't safe for me." "This is just how I am."
Somewhere, once, that sentence was useful. It kept you safe, or careful, or protected from getting hurt again in a way you'd already been hurt before.
It made sense at the time, whenever that time was.
But sentences like that don't always update themselves just because the situation has changed.
A belief formed at seven can still be quietly running the show at fifty, long after the reason for it has disappeared.
This isn't about forcing yourself to think positive, or pretending a pattern isn't real. It's simpler than that, closer to body wisdom than willpower. It's just asking, every now and then: is this belief still adding something useful to my life, or is it just familiar, rather like a jumper you keep wearing out of loyalty long after the moths have had their way with it? Sometimes just noticing the pattern out loud, naming it, is enough to loosen its grip a little.
What would you let yourself believe instead, if the old belief wasn't required anymore?
