The Sacred Nature of Intentional Touch

I woke up this morning to a white fluffy dog tapping me to massage her neck. She even placed herself in a way that it would be easy to do. She was so relaxed, and I could feel her sense of safety with me, allowing me to move her around any which way. I wondered in that moment—how does she know what to place in front of me? But she doesn't think about it. She just feels how good it feels. When she's done, off she goes.

Molly, that's her name, reminds me daily to see the beauty of my space. My sanctuary of healing. Not just for me, but for all that visit me. She reminds me of the beauty that is in every nook and cranny that I have created—my sacred space. Not only for me, but also for my precious clients. It's inner and outer.
Sacred space isn't really about candles or music, though I love those things. It's about how I hold the space inside myself. When I'm present—really present—people feel it. Their shoulders drop before I even touch them. They take deeper breaths. Their bodies start to unwind just from feeling that it's okay to do so.

Molly gets this intuitively. She doesn't wonder if it's okay to ask for what she needs. She doesn't perform or pretend. She just shows up, entirely herself, trusting that this is a safe place to be vulnerable.

That's what I want for everyone who comes to my table. That level of ease. That knowing that they can show up exactly as they are—tired, hurting, confused, overwhelmed, whatever—and it's all welcome here.

The sacred part isn't really about the room or the table or any of the physical stuff. The sacred part is the trust. The willingness to be seen. The exhale that happens when someone realizes they don't have to hold it all together here.

Molly reminds me of this every single day. She trusts this space completely. And in trusting it, she helps me remember what I'm really offering—a place where you can be as honest and unguarded as a little white dog asking for exactly what she needs, knowing she'll be met with care.
Have a cuppa and intentionally go hug, just because it feels good to you. xxB
